January Inspiration

With best wishes for a happy New Year.

Over the next few weeks, I'm hoping to take part in the 2015 Virtual Curriculum Fair. Over the month of January, a group of bloggers share about their family curriculum for various subjects. I'm looking forward to reading about other people's ideas.

During the last few weeks, Younger Daughter and I have enjoyed some of the BBC Education History videos together. We have only watched a small portion so this isn't an unqualified recommendation but we have enjoyed those we have watched. John Snow and the story of cholera was a particular favourite.

I don't usually listen to podcasts but have been enjoying the Read Aloud Revival podcasts. Again, I haven't listened to everyone and did find one which was quite difficult to hear but it has been an encouragement to keep reading aloud.

For those of us who found learning to read easy, it can be difficult to imagine what it is like to find reading very, very challenging. This post is an attempt to show us what it is like to be dyslexic and is well worth reading.

Finally, a thought provoking post on our attitude to miscarriage. Should pregnancies be hidden until 12 weeks in case of miscarriage? Is a miscarriage something that should be hidden? Prudence writes about this from her own recent experience.

Looking forward to Spring.
